Malcolm Todd at the Fillmore NOLA

The second leg of Malcolm Todd’s “The Wholesome Rockstar Tour” came to a close on Thursday night down in New Orleans. Malcolm started the show by coming on stage with a celebratory bottle of champagne, followed by an eruption of screams and the feeling of the Fillmore floor shaking beneath our feet. The next 90 minutes were filled with pure energy and excitement from fans and the “Wholesome Rockstar” himself.

Laundry Day
Warming up the crowd was indie pop band Laundry Day, who wasted no time setting the tone for the night. As a long-time listener of LD, this was a huge moment for me – and clearly I was not alone. Though still a relatively small band, many people came to this show already loving them, and even more left the show, queueing up their songs for the ride home. Laundry Day consists of four guys from New York: Jude, Sawyer, and the two Henrys. They started making music in 2017; however, this was their first show in New Orleans. They continuously engaged with the crowd and kept the energy high. Having had the opportunity to speak with a few members of the band after the show, they expressed their love for the city and would definitely come back. With their new album EARWORM dropping October 10, 2025, now is the perfect time to dive into their catalog.

From LA to La
Born in Los Angeles, California, one of Malcolm Todd’s first headlining shows was at the Vault in Downtown LA in June of 2022. Fast-forward three years, and he’s released two albums (plus a deluxe), several EPs, and a string of singles. His debut album Sweet Boy remains his most beloved, with a breakout track topping 90 million streams. After supporting Omar Apollo’s tour in 2024, the two released a song together titled “Bleed”. These releases largely contributed to his quick growth in the music industry, now having over 9 million listeners on Spotify alone.
Selling out shows in New Orleans is not a simple feat, but Malcolm Todd did it with ease. Thousands of passionate fans packed into the Fillmore that night, ready to scream every word to over 20 songs. It clearly was not lost on him that it was the final stop of the tour, and it seemed NOLA did not let him down. He ended the night with a fan-filled afterparty at the famous Cat’s Meow karaoke bar on Bourbon Street.

(I Love) Malcolm Todd
From the raw emotions he expresses in songs like “Chest Pain (I Love)”, to his demand for us to go as wild as we can during his #1 hit “Roommates”, Malcolm’s set made us jump, cry, scream, and groove. He was always dancing, even though he played the role of lead guitarist for most songs. He never seemed to get tired, nor did the fans. His vocals were on point — crisp, emotional, and nearly indistinguishable from the recordings. He sang each song with complete emotion, giving it his all every time. Todd wasn’t just performing; he was living inside the songs, and in turn, so was everyone else. With a discography that blends pop-rock and R&B, the show never lagged. Vulnerability, passion, and playfulness all poured through, both in his lyrics and his performance.

Malcolm capped off the night with a three-song encore, hyping up the crowd the whole time. He thanked his crew and his New Orleans fans for a memorable night. He reflected on “The Wholesome Rockstar Tour”, and how life changing it has been for him. I walked out of the Fillmore an even bigger fan than I walked in. Malcolm Todd has found that rare balance between pure fun and serious artistry, and if this show is any indication, he’s only getting started.
