CRYRS Bring Back the Breakdown with In Light Of Heavy Hearts

If you've ever been to a CRYRS show, then you already know seeing them live is like seeing your favorite xX_my_heart_beats_in_breakdowns_Xx Myspace era playlist come to life.

On June 14th, they bring that concept to your stereo with the release of In Light Of Heavy Hearts, the groups first full length album, and follow up to their 2023 debut EP, Sad But Rad. CRYRS pay tribute to the hits from emo's third wave, and the golden age of pop punk, while injecting some of the energy and personality that defines their live shows.

All Killer, No Filler

Ten bangers round out this albums track listing, starting off with maybe the most in-your-face of all emo intros, A Day To Remember's Downfall Of Us All.

Back cover, full track list.

The band chose to focus on the more uptempo/heavier songs from their live set with such standards like Smile In Your Sleep and Tears Don't Fall, but also sprinkle in some pop punk fun with What's My Age Again and Ocean Avenue.

"We went for more of an aggressive mix since our live shows tend to have that type of energy."
-Burt Benson (guitar/vocals)

Lead vocalist K-Rox really showcases her range on this record, going from clean to dirty, with support from guitarist Burt's backup screams. Two of the album's tracks feature bassist B-Rad taking the lead (When You Were Young and What's My Age Again), which brings a whole other range dynamic that allows the band to really expand and explore options when considering their setlist.
