Around The Pit: My Favorite Gulf Coast Concerts This Year
2023 has been a crazy year! Looking back at all of the shows I've been to, here are a few of my favorites.
This year I went to 41 concerts. Not bad for somebody who wasn't allowed to really go to concerts until I left my parents home!
I went to 29 concerts last year, so I nearly doubled my number this year, actually. The furthest I went for a concert this year was Grand Rapids, Michigan to see Wage War after I went to Upheaval Festival. Of course, there were plenty of concerts I saw locally, up and down the Gulf Coast.
It was an amazing year for music, so trust me when I say this list was hard to make, but somehow I did it!
My Top Pick: Bad Omens at Orpheum Theatre in New Orleans on Sept. 4
Without a doubt, my favorite concert on the Gulf Coast this year was Bad Omens' sold out New Orleans stop on the Concrete Forever Tour.
I didn't start listening to Bad Omens until spring of this year, but needless to say, I was obsessed after the first listen. Due to the insanely high resale ticket prices, I was resigned to the fact that I'd probably miss the show--until I checked StubHub the morning of the show and managed to snag a ticket for $25.
I am 100% sure that the reseller meant $250, but a win is a win.
From the very beginning of the show, Bad Omens showcased just why they've taken TikTok and the rock charts by storm. Though they're opening up for Bring Me The Horizon and embarking on their own European tour early next year, I'm (along with many others) eagerly awaiting their next headlining tour.
Shamelessly crossing my fingers for their return to Mobile, where they haven't been since 2019, or Pensacola, where they haven't been since 2017.
